OUR BOARD

Pastor Elwin Ahu- President
A man of faith, wisdom, and compassion. He is Founding Pastor of Metro Christian Church in Honolulu, a position he has held for 13 years. His church serves as an ROLM hub spot at Ala Moana Beach Park. Elwin was also Executive Pastor of New Hope Christian Fellowship for nearly 12 years. Before entering the ministry, he was a Circuit Judge of the State of Hawai‘i Judiciary for six years where he presided over criminal and civil cases. Elwin is a leader who is experienced in board governance. He has served on the board of Foursquare Church for nine years and currently serves on the boards of Partners in Development Foundation and Metro Christian Academy. He has been an ROLM board member for the past two years.

Susanne M. Millard - Vice President
A disciplined investment professional with a decades-long track record advising clients and leading institutional consulting work. She is a Senior Institutional Consultant and First Vice President of Raymond James, and has provided investment advice for 30 years across Raymond James, UBS, Merrill Lynch, and Smith Barney. While at Merrill Lynch, Suzie served as Lead Consultant for the Specialized Institutional Group of Honolulu, consulting on approximately $4 billion in assets. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from The Colorado College and earned her Master’s in Finance from the University of Colorado, later teaching finance there for six years. Suzie has earned advanced professional designations including CIMA®, CAIA, CRPS®, AIF®, and NQPA®, and she serves on the Retirement Plan & Institutional Advisory Council. She is experienced in board governance and community leadership, currently serving on the Board of Mid Pacific Institute (and previously as Chair), chairing the Board of Common Grace & Mālama Mentors, and serving as Chair of the Investment Committee for Waialae Country Club. She also serves with the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaiʻi’s Public Health Committee and has supported numerous community boards and church leadership roles in Honolulu.

Rann Watumull - Secretary
A man of faith, entrepreneurial vision, and long-standing commitment to Hawaiʻi’s community. He is the co-founder and senior executive of Business Advisory Services, where he helps high net worth families manage complex financial affairs including wealth management, trustee services, estate and succession planning, and charitable foundation planning and administration. He is also the co-founder and senior executive of Hawaii Film Partners, created to help grow Hawaiʻi’s film industry, producing nationally released film and award-winning television projects. Previously, Rann served at Bank of Hawaii as vice president and manager of the Family Wealth Management Department—founding the department in 1994 and growing it into a team of 12 with $1 billion under management. Before that, he founded and led Natural Resources, Inc., one of Hawaiʻi’s early solar companies, later expanding into major contracting and technology projects. Rann is a leader experienced in board governance. He has served River of Life Mission since 1988 and was board president from 1998–2025. He is also president of the G.J. and Ellen Watumull Foundation and has served as board chairman of A Family Tree. He has held additional board and community roles, and has served as a Christian church elder and long-time care/small group leader.

Gregg Oishi -
Treasurer
A follower of Jesus Christ. He currently serves as President and CEO of Kuakini Health System. Previously, he held key leadership roles at Kuakini since 2000, including Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative-Chief Financial Officer. In addition to his work at Kuakini, Gregg serves on the Board Council of Anchor Church, and holds positions as Board Secretary of CareResource Hawaii and Secretary/Treasurer for the Hawaii Residency Programs, Inc. Gregg joined the River of Life Mission Board in 2025.

Jenny Sung - Board Member
Serving as the pastor for the Hub of Healing Ministries and The Vine campus with First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu, Jenny is passionate about evangelism and apostolic mission. Jenny holds a Master of Arts in Global Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Master of Arts in Speech from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. With almost three decades of experience in ministry, community engagement, and leadership development, Jenny brings a heart to share God's love to our most vulnerable populations and Christ-centered care to the River of Life Mission Board.

Danny Kim - Board Member
Danny Kim is the President of Koha Foods. He is a graduate of St. Louis High School and holds a degree in finance from Santa Clara University. After beginning his career in banking in California, Danny returned to Hawai’i to help lead his family business. Danny’s connection with River of Life began through his relationship with former Executive Director Bob Marchant, who became a trusted spiritual mentor. Through that relationship, Danny learned more about the mission’s work and felt a clear calling to serve. He joined the Board of Directors in 2016 and has since witnessed God do remarkable things through the mission and its impact on the community.

Rene Morgan - Board Member
Her passion is to equip, encourage, and serve others with the love of Christ. With a background in non-profit administration and volunteer management, René has served in ministry and community roles in Hawaii with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) and Samaritan’s Purse. As the Hawaii Field Representative for BGEA, she supported local pastors and churches across denominations with tools for evangelism and helped coordinate the 2016 Franklin Graham Capitol Prayer Rally. She served as the Area Coordinator for Operation Christmas Child, overseeing church and community engagement, media outreach, and logistics. Through the development of a year-round volunteer team, the ministry's reach expanded across Oʻahu and the neighbor islands, increasing annual shoebox donations for children in need from 7,000 to 48,000 in six years.
René’s spiritual gifts of leadership, mercy, and serving are seen in her volunteer roles, including serving as an Official Election Observer, mentoring teen moms through YoungLives, and serving as a deacon at First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu.
René is married and the mother of two children. She has been a ROLM board member since 2015.

Lani Kaaa - Board Member
Lani Stone Kaaa is an experienced leader and communications consultant with a strong background in nonprofit development, political strategy, and ministry outreach. As the Hawai’i State Director for the Leadership Institute, she organizes training programs to equip individuals for public service and leadership. She also runs Kahea Services, LLC, helping nonprofits with strategic communications, donor engagement, and media production. With over two decades of experience across sectors, Lani brings a unique blend of organizational, fundraising, and event planning expertise to every project.

Pastor Dan Chun - Board Member
Dan Chun is the co-founder of Hawaiian Islands Ministries (HIM) founded in 1983 with his wife Pam. HIM has trained more than 80,000 leaders primarily from Hawaii. A pastor since 1978, Dan was the senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu for 29 years. He hosts a podcast featuring eclectic guests including an exorcist, NT Times best-seller, 2 four-star admirals and a Presidential Medal of Freedom winner. He is an author and award-winning filmmaker. Dan is a rabid fan of Compassion International and The Alpha Course. He has been serving as a Fuller Theological Seminary trustee for more than 20 years and the ROLM Board for more than 2 years. Dan has been married to Pam for more than 44 years and has three children and two dogs.

Leo Rodas - Board Member
Leo Rodas is a United States Marine Corps veteran who served as a Tier 2 operator with unit leadership experience in the infantry, weapons training, and completed multiple deployments to the Middle East. He holds a Master of Social Work and is a graduate of Pepperdine University and Hawaii Pacific University. He is multilingual and has participated in multiple long-term mission trips throughout Latin America. Leo has served the River of Life Mission for five years, contributing to organizational leadership through service on the governance and facilities committees and now chairs the Program Committee, supporting the mission’s commitment to Christ-centered care, accountability, and long-term restoration. Grounded in his faith in Jesus Christ, Leo has a heart for ministries that proclaim the Gospel while serving those impacted by poverty, homelessness, mental health challenges, and substance use disorders. He previously served as the executive leader of Hope Center, a residential recovery program rooted in Christian discipleship, and currently serves in the Hawai’i State Legislature as Chief of Staff and Office Manager for a State Representative. He also serves on the advisory board and executive committee of IVAT and volunteers in an advisory role with the Hawaii Pacific University Social Work Program. Leo is married, a father to young children, and values family life as a primary calling.

Scott Nahme - Board Member
A seasoned banking leader with deep experience in commercial real estate lending and community governance. He retired in 2020 as Senior Vice President and Division Manager for Commercial Real Estate Lending at Central Pacific Bank, capping 36 years in banking across Maryland National Bank, First Hawaiian Bank, Bank of Hawaii, Hawaii State Federal Credit Union, and Central Pacific Bank. He has worked across retail and corporate banking, credit administration, and commercial real estate lending, and also supported a locally based export business from 2005–2007. Scott earned his BA from Duke University and is a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington. He is experienced in board governance, serving as Board Chair of Lanakila Pacific Foundation (current) and previously as Board Chair of the Lanakila Pacific Center Board, YMCA Nuʻuanu Branch, and the American Diabetes Association. He also serves with Family In Flight and has supported additional community organizations including Waialae School Foundation and Wellspring Covenant Church Youth Group Parent Support. He is married to his wife, Lauren, and has 3 grown-up children and two golden doodles.

Mari Kanemura - Board Member
Mari shares the love of Christ with others through providing compassionate care,
advocating for those most in need, empowering and being an instrument of
peace and healing, while balancing cultural sensitivity, social justice, and high
ethical standards.
She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in private practice on the island
of Maui, counseling women, children, and teenagers. Volunteering with River of
Life during college allowed her to see the direct impact of the ministry. She brings
over 20 years professional experience in social work and counseling with
University of Hawaii Maui College, St. Francis Hospice, and Legacy of Life
Hawaii. Mari facilitates training in her community to address trauma, grief, and
abuse; organizing the Maui Men’s March Against Violence, assisting the
Bereavement Network of Hawaii, and helping anti-trafficking organization, MADE
IN HOPE. She is also expanding her ministry to Japan, providing women with
mental health support and training. She enjoys running and spending time with
her husband and two sons.

Kurt Meyer - Board Member
Fr. Kurt Meyer is a local boy, born and raised on the Island of O’ahu. After graduating
from Radford High School, Fr. Kurt attended the University of Hawai’i and received a
bachelor’s degree in accounting and a Master of Business Administration. He worked
several years in various roles in the accounting field, spending most of his free time
assisting at his home church of St. Philomena in youth ministry. After finally listening to
God’s call, Fr. Kurt entered the seminary and was ordained a Catholic Priest in May of
2024. Fr. Kurt is not the Director of Campus Ministry and Pastor of the Newman
Center/Holy Spirit Parish in Manoa.

Naomi Ahuna - Board Member
Naomi Ahuna, SHRM‐SCP, currently serves as the Vice President – Chief Human Resources
Officer for Island Energy Services where she lead’s the company’s people strategy, employee
engagement, workforce development, and strategic Human Resource initiatives.
With more than 30 years of experience, Naomi brings deep expertise across multiple industries,
including public transportation, consulting engineering, astronomy, and telecommunications.
Naomi’s heart is in building high performing organizations, strengthening strong inclusive
workplace cultures, cultivating leadership capability, and developing sustainable talent pipelines
that align people, culture, and business strategy.
As a lifelong volunteer, she has led the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM)
Hawaii Chapter at the state and national levels, serving as State Chapter Director and Chapter
President. In addition, Naomi has taught SHRM Certification courses and HR Strategy for
hundreds of HR Professionals throughout Hawaiʻi. Her volunteer service includes non‐profit
organizations in Washington State and Hawai’i and is currently serving as an Advisory Council
Member to the SHRM Hawaiʻi Board of Directors.
Through God’s divine insight, Naomi has developed a career program called God’s Plan,
ministering to young adults, emerging professionals, Managers and Executive Leaders on how to
blend God’s gifts and talents in the workplace. She currently serves on the Anchor Cares
Ministry as a Career Transitional Coach and Mentor.

energy industry professional and a graduate of Kamehameha Schools and the University of
Hawaiʻi at Mānoa with a BA degree in Communications. She is Nana to Charli, her
granddaughter and Mom to her daughter Dayna who teaches Kindergarten.
