"Hi! My name is Carolyn. I'd like to thank the Mission for helping me get my life back in order and how to deal with my hurt feelings from the past and letting God's love and understanding live in me. I stopped drinking and using drugs. I went into a treatment program on February 7, 2001. I know that God was in my life then because He opened a way. My assessment was paid for and a bed space was open. That day, I took that change. I did a 30-day residential program and a 30-day outpatient treatment. I had an apartment that I shared with another woman. Then, I came to the Mission to see if I could come back and volunteer. With God's help, I became humble with myself and others around me." |

"I am so grateful to the people of River of Life Mission. God has truly blessed me when He led me to this place. Coming from an abusive family, it's comforting to know that there is a God who loves me for who I am. The River of Life Mission saved my life. Thanks to God and to the many persons who have always shown me much love and respect in my most trying times. I came many times to the Mission for a meal and shower and because of the love shown by the staff, I can now try volunteering during the week. God bless those at River of Life Mission! And special thanks to Ronnie, Bob G., Dallas and Bobby for all your kind words and support." |

"I want to tell you why your help and support is needed and so important to River of Life. I've been coming to River of Life since September 1, 2001, and to tell you the truth, it was only for clothes and doughnuts. One day I came in and the staff was telling everyone, "Good morning," and they called me by my first name. Well, let me tell you, it made me feel special. They did not look down at me because of what I am, which is houseless, an alcoholic and a drug user. They made me feel safe and that I am somebody. I started to come to Bible study everyday. Now I am in programs at River of Life Mission like Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, 12 steps, Bible studies and more. Places like this are needed because it helps us to know that we can come here and get help without being shame about asking for it. They are God's angels, helping us not only physically but also spiritually." |
