Lighthouse Outreach Center
located at 94-230 Leokane Street
in Waipahu has been a safe haven to
many homeless individuals and families
since October 1, 2006

 

The shelter sleeps over 120 individuals and
is open daily from 5:30 pm to 7:30 am.

Guests are provided with an evening meal
and lockers for personal items.

 

The shelter also provides social services to aid our guests with rental assistance, medical issues, and life skills such as budgeting.

The goal of Lighthouse Outreach Center is to move our guests out of the shelter to temporary housing, alleviating worries of day-to-day existence, and allowing planning for the future.

Lighthouse Outreach Center Accomplishments  
The following are accomplishments of Lighthouse Outreach Center for the first six months of operation, from October 1, 2006 through March 30, 2007.
  1. Although contracted to provide service to 85 people per night,
    • served 27 extra homeless individuals on 4 nights in October
      (first month of operation)
    • served 200 extra homeless individuals on 14 nights in November
      (second month of operation)
    • served 125 extra homeless individuals on 16 nights in December
      (third month of operation)
    • served 419 extra homeless individuals on 26 nights in January
      (fourth month of operation)
    • served 597 extra homeless individuals on 28 nights in February
      (fifth month of operation)
    • served 480 extra homeless individuals on 30 nights in March
      (sixth month of operation)
       
  2. Transitioned 49 homeless people to permanent housing
    (1400% of projected goal for 6 months)
     
  3. Transitioned 14 homeless people to transitional shelters
    (127% of projected goal for 6 months)
     
  4. Found employment for 6 homeless individuals
    (200% of projected goal for 6 months)
     
  5. Served 174% of our Total Unduplicated Homeless Persons goal for 6 months
    (226% of 6 month goal for Unduplicated Families served; 230% of Unduplicated Individuals in Families served in 6 months; 172% of 6 month goal for Unduplicated Single Persons served in 6 months)
     
  6. Achieved 190% of 6 month goal for counseling contacts (duplicated)
     
  7. Achieved 487% of 6 month goal for unduplicated intake/assessments done
     
  8. Achieved 349% of 6 month goal for unduplicated participants covered by case plans
